For the Boys

When Scotty saw me painting this piece he asked me what it was for. I told him it was for his room, he smiled and rubbed my arm while he excitedly said, "Thank you mama!"

This piece is 30x40 and now sits above my bed!

McKittrick Ensign!

This is a piece I did for my family. It has a lot of symbolism. I tried taking individual pictures of different parts of the painting but it was kind of hard because of the flash! I guess I need to learn a few tricks! Anyway... TaDa!

Birthday Traditions!

This year we decided to add a few fun things to our Birthday routine. One of them is the hanging of the Bithday Banner!

This is so fun and announces to everyone that there's a birthday in the house!

To do this buy stiff felt and cut in half. Buy ribbon, wood letters, paint and embelishments. Then grab your glue gun and get creative!

The next thing that we added is a very special Birthday Dinner. At this dinner we do a lot of fun things for the birthday person. We eat under the BIRTHDAY TENT!

They get to choose WHATEVER they want to eat....

and they eat on the birthday plate, of course!

We all take turns at the dinner talking about what we love about this person, we sing Happy Birthday with candles and then we grab some pillows and blankets to watch the video of their very first birthday!

This took a little time to put together but now I can just take it down and fold it up and easily put it back up birthday after birthday. My friend Amy inspired the idea. It was so worth it! On Mac's birthday I said aloud, MORE THAN ONCE, "I love that Amy Arriola!"

To make your own you need...
Lill curtain panels from IKEA. (They are not available online so if you don't live by an IKEA you will have to find someone who does to pick them up for you.) They come in a packs of two and are $5 per pack. You need 3 packs.
Christmas Lights - I used 4 packs of 100 lights.
3M hooks
Kite String
Balloons!
First thread your lights through 4 of your curtain panels, allow the left over to drape evenly from each side. Tie kite string to the light strand at the end of each curtain, you will tie in 8 places and should make the loop the disired length you would like your curtains to hang from the ceiling.

Then place your hooks on your ceiling and loop two corners of kite sting onto each hook. Then with kite string tie the two left over panels together, at the top, in 6 places - so balloons won't fall through. Attach to the middle of the top sides. Then tie the remaining fabric to the corners and allow the left over to drape down the side. Blow up balloons and toss up on the top! You are done! (oh you need an extension cord to plug in the lights)

I am excited for this new tradition and happy to share it to help others create their own. I know that for my children it will create fond memories of home and will contribute to a positive self esteem. I hope that they will associate it with a good family life and want the same for their futures. I hope you have fun with your own creations!

Fiore Compagni

Yeah! I was so happy when these were done! I had a hard time getting a good shot, because of the flash, which is always the case! I just love them, they make me happy!
